I planned on spending my new years sitting on my computer and celebrating by listening to K Fed's single "PopoZao" when it is released at midnight. Sadly, I found it over here before it's midnight release. Now I don't know what to do.

I'm not saying this is good at all, it's just interesting and funny/pathetic. It's scary knowing that this could be huge. You may be asking yourself, "What the hell is a PopoZao?" Well it means luscious ass or "bring ya ass" or something like that in Portuguese. Alright!

Chromeo

I was doing my usual myspace music browsings when I came across Chromeo. I know I've heard their name before and maybe even listened, but this was the first time I actually listened. They've got a pretty unique style I think, it's some kind of soulful electropop hiphop combination. They also use a talkbox and describe themselves as a "thugged out Hall and Oates." It's definetly worth a listen, so give them a listen.

Psylocke!

According to Superherohype, Psylocke will be in X3. She'll be joining up with Magneto and the Brotherhood. She'll be played by Meiling Melancon. That's good to hear. I'm glad they are putting in some more awesome characters instead of more shitty ones like Callisto, Leech and Artie, and Siryn. Still no Gambit though.

Cover Song Thursday! with TV on the Radio

To keep up with my little theme day thing I introduced on Tuesday, I bring you cover song Thursday! I'm doing these things mainly because I've got a lot of these things (Conway Twitty songs and covers) that I'd like to share with people, and it gives me something more to post about when I'm down on my luck with finding new bands and such. Every Thursday I'll be posting at least one cover song of my liking along with whatever I'm posting that day. Portugal The Man

My friend Wes was really into these guys when they were called Anatomy of a Ghost and were screamo-y. We saw them at the Warped Tour a few years ago and they talked to us awhile and took pictures with us and all that jazz. I didn't really care for them then (except the nice moustaches they had), but Portugal The Man is okay with me. I remember listening to Portugal The Man awhile back and thinking it was a lot more like music to sleep to (like Sigur Ros) but what I hear now isn't like that so maybe I was wrong or they just sound different now...or maybe they do both. Anyways, I am enjoying Portugal The Man at the moment so I thought I'd share them with you in case you had not heard of them yet. Since I am horrible at describing what bands sound like this is what the insound page says:

"Their soulful indie rock blends influences from the ever seminal sounds of early 70's rock, R&B, and vintage soul with the latest innovations in melodious experimentation (drum machines, programming, sampling)"

Glass Danse has a bunch of Head Automatica/Glassjaw demos that are being sold on ebay. There's a bunch of different versions of tunes and songs that didn't make the first HA album. It's pretty neat I think. Anyways, this demo from one of the CDs has been released in it's entirety. Here it is:

Twitty Tuesday!

I decided to add a little spice to the ol blog and have some themed thingers. First up is Twitty Tuesday! I'm a big fan of country music legend Conway Twitty and I think it's a shame that more people aren't into him. My mom was a big fan and I always listened to him in her van when I was younger, a few years ago I just started listening to him on my own and he's totally awesome. He's not an "outlaw" country singer or anything where he sings about being in jail, getting boozed up, and kicking some tail, Conway almost always sings about women, his love for them, and his troubles with them. Anyways, for now on (hopefully) I'll be posting a track from Mr. Twitty every Tuesday along with whatever else I can find. I'll kick off the first Twitty Tuesday with the first Conway song that I really enjoyed, enjoy!

I've been home for the holidays with an awesome 26 Kbps dial up connection. That explains the lack of posting, but I'm back now and will start posting again either tonight or tomorrow. Yeah!

Supersystem

Supersystem used to be known as El Guapo. I had heard of El Guapo and downloaded stuff and all that jazz, but never really got into them until now. I came across them because they're on Touch and Go Records, and I like a lot of their artists, so that's how it went down. Anyways, Supersystem is going to be coming to St. Louis on January 11th (at the Hi-Pointe.) This is great news since I haven't gone to any shows lately. I've got 3 to go to in January now, so yeah! You'll like Supersystem if you're into the whole dancity vibe stuff. They sound like The Rapture kinda.

I don't really know much about Cassette, but I've had their myspace page bookmarked for awhile. I just know that they're a synthpop band from Boston that was 4 people, but now it looks like they're a duo. They just posted 4 Christmas songs on their myspace page to download. They're a nice listen if you enjoy some nice synthpop.

I was doing my usual browsing about on myspace the other day when I came across Attractive and Popular. They're going to be playing at the Hi-Pointe in St. Louis on January 6th along with The Undoing of David Wright and The Bureau. After listening to them, I realized that I would definetly be leaving the apartment that night to have a wonderful time. They remind me of VCR a lot and have that dirty dance rock kinda vibe going on. On December 30th, they're heading out on a tour of the midwest/southish area so if you're looking for a good time, you can find their tour dates over at their myspace page.

Vagenius

I saw Vagenius play at the now dead Rocket Bar sometime last year and I really enjoyed them. They were tons of fun, used a keytar, had a tall female singer with huge hair, and covered ACDC's "Money Talks." They have a great synthpoppy vibe going on. They were also a nice bunch of folks. They just finished up recording their full length and I'm really looking forward to it. I was going to wait until something new popped out to post about them, but oh what the heck.

X3 trailer!

The teaser trailer for the 3rd X-Men film is now online!

In it you can catch a glimpse of Angel, Beast, Juggernaut, Kitty Pryde, and all kinds of action. I am very excited. An article in today's USA today mentioned how this will be the final X-movie, which sucks balls in my book. They can't stop before they have Gambit, Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, and a huge dickload of Sentinels tearing the shit out of everything. That's my opinion anyway. Halle Berry is going to be a lameass though and put a stop to the movies (she doesn't want to do it anymore.) Anyways, check it out here.

Holy shit!

So i've been looking at the trailer more in depth and the top secret ending is totally going to be SENTINELS! Here's my 3 reasons for this:

1. There's a bunch of destruction/fire/rubble in some scenes probably caused by Sentinels

2. There is a shot of Storm flying down to the ground and behind her are purpley/pink lasers shooting by that probably belong to Sentinels.

3. There is also a shot of Colossus launching Wolverine up into the air and what is up in the air? SENTINELS!

News News News!

So for this post I'm going to throw out a bunch of awesome news, here it goes:



- So you may have noticed Electric Six's "Danger, High Voltage" being played during a Mr. and Mrs. Smith commercial on the ol television. Well, this reminded me that I hadn't checked the E6 site in a few weeks so I went there and discovered that they finally have a record deal! If you didn't know, they've been without a North American label for their second (awesome) album Senor Smoke. It was released in the UK earlier this year, but never got to enjoy the greatness of US soil until now. The only downside is that they are on Metropolis Records which is a label that features a roster full of metal/goth/industrial kinda of stuff. They did release the last Mindless Self Indulgence album, but they still kind of fit in with all that, but E6 seem a little out of place. They've also announced that they will be touring the US again this spring AND that they'll be releasing a 3rd album in late 2006. Senor Smoke will be released in the US on February 7th, 2006 and you can pre-order it here. Until then, here's the leadoff track:

-Also, in very exciting to me news, the X-Men 3 trailer will be shown along with King Kong, but in even more awesome news it is said to be released on the internet this coming Monday (the 5th.) In it we get to see glimpes of Juggernaut, Beast, Shadowcat, Angel, and Colossus along with tons of other crazily amazing things. Alright!

-In other X-Menish news, The executive producer and head writer for Lost, Damon Lindelof, is writing a 6 issue mini series (when I say issue I mean issues of comics) for Marvel called "Ultimate Hulk Vs. Wolverine." In it crazy shit happens like this:

- Paris Hilton is streaming 4 songs off of her new album "1 crazy party." I excited at first because I heard her song "Screwed" awhile back and really liked it, but this other stuff is awful. You don't even need a link because it sucks.
